Weekend in Review

This weekend has been a busy one to say the least.  On Thursday, I traveled home to spend some time with my parents.  On Friday, my dad and I cut out a ton more shapes prepping to showcase my Easter Collection for my door hangers.  Then we to clean out several units.  My parent’s own a storage facility, and when people don’t pay their rent their units have to be cleaned out.  We got about half way through one of three units.

On Saturday, we spent the day getting a new facebook page ready for my new business adventure with my mom.  We will be offering wood door hangers, and her boot bands to begin with.  Hoping to expand to more in the future.  I also worked on the door hangers some as well.

Sunday, I went to church with my parents, and then came home to prepare lunch.  After lunch, I took a little siesta.  Can’t have a Sunday home without a nap right.  Then it was back to painting the door hangers getting them ready to go.

Linking up with Bella, and Biana.

The Bestie and I – Graduation Party

10. I love to try new recipes.  It’s my goal to at least try one new recipe a week – given that I have the ingredients on hand.

12. I don’t drink coffee everyday, but every once in awhile I enjoy a cup or treat myself to some Starbucks.  If it’s hot outside – I must have cold coffee  and vice versa for cold weather.

14. I am an extreme crafter.  I love it. I could do it everyday, all day.

15. I am an only child.  However, I do have one older step-brother who lives in Texas with his wife and my 2 nephews (step dad’s son).  I then have a younger step sister and step brother (step mom’s children).  My younger step sister lives in Nashville with her husband, and my younger step brother is attending his first year of college.

16. I am a worrier, and worrier about the smallest things.

17. I battle with gaining weight and loosing weight every year.  Since I’ve been unemployed currently, I’ve vowed to put myself first and take care of myself.  I am guilty of letting stress affect my eating habits. I’ve lost 4 lbs, and 7 inches since last week.  I’ve been working on this since the first of the year, but I only weighted and measured since last week.  oops.

18. I love to decorate my own home, and help others.  I get pretty offended when someone calls me a interior decorator.  Just so you know – An interior decorator doesn’t have to spend 4 years in college, and have student loans in the 10k +.

19. My favorite time of the year is definitely Spring and Fall time. Although – Spring and I have a love/hate relationship due to pollen.

20. I could totally go for a Cherry Lime aid from Sonic right about now.  Yes, I know it’s not even 9 a.m. in the morning.  Who Cares?

21. I am guilty of jumping from one project to the other, and them reminding myself that I never finished the first project.

22. I am guilty of feeding my pup apple every morning, and some graham cracker every night.

23. My favorite fast food would definitely be Chick-fil-a and Zaxby’s.  What can I say?  I love chicken.

24. I love a To Do List.  It keeps me grounded and give me purpose.

25. I love leaving sweet little sticky notes around the house for my husband when I am gone.

Weekend In Review – LATE

What a weekend it was!

We had a very busy week last week as well as a very busy weekend.

We didn’t do much fun, but we got a ton of things done around the house.

On Friday night, we took it easy.  We had dinner at the house, and caught up on our shows on list.

This is my little baby – Aiden. Yes, I named him a human name when I was back in college, and no I don’t regret it.
This is my mom’s baby – Sophie. I am keeping her while my parent’s are in Texas seeing my nephews.

I even snuggled with these little rugrats.

Saturday was quite another story.

First thing on Saturday morning, I got up and went to a little store right down the road from my house to purchase my wooden door hangers.  I purchase them from there first of all because it saves me time, and makes my husband not have to do all that hard work.  I got several for the upcoming holidays as well as a few for just everyday.  I typically do several burlap designs, but decided for these holidays I would try my hand at some wooden shapes.

Before the day was over, I ended up priming most of the shapes.

This is my husband painting our cabinet doors for our laundry room and mudroom area.  Last year for Christmas, my dad built us cabinets in our laundry room, mudroom, and a bench seat in our front guest bedroom.  We have thoroughly enjoyed them; however, we have been missing our cabinet doors for several months – almost 12 months to be exact.  Beggars can’t be choosers right? ha…

Earlier in the week, my husband built me the coffee table that I had been wanting so that it matched our end tables.  I was swooning over the exact style in a post earlier last week here.  I decided that I would go ahead and paint it using the same Annie Sloan paint that I used on our end tables.  I absolutely love Annie Sloan paint and the waxes.  After painting the coffee table, I decided to get adventurous and refinish another piece of furniture that was in the room.  Whew, what was I thinking?  Saturday night, we ended up relaxing while I worked on redoing my business site.

Here is a little glimpse at the finish…

On Sunday, we went to church, and came home for a little lunch and a nap.  Then we were back at painting the cabinet doors, priming the wooden shapes, and finishing the wax finish on the other piece of furniture.  We had a very productive weekend, but somewhat glad to be back to the weekly grind.

Did you have a busy weekend like us?

DIY Pinterest Finds

Okay. So. I absolutely LOVE Pinterest.  Maybe that’s an understatement.  I could honestly spend hours just browsing all different types of things.  Today, I thought I would share some of my recent diy pins that I really want to make for my own home.

I really want to make one of these for my sectional sofa.  On one end of my sofa, I don’t have a side table so something as simple as a drink has to go on the coffee table.  This is something so simple yet so practical.

You may not know this, but I have a little obsession with all things birds.  I have little birds all over my home whether they be in figurines, pictures, ect.  My husband calls our home a bird sanctuary especially when I want to buy more.  These birds can be made with whatever you have around the house whether it be scrapbook paper or fabric.  Aren’t they adorable?

I have this big chalkboard in my dining room, and for the past year, I’ve had vinyl letters on it.  I just couldn’t seem to create the perfect chalkboard letters.  I want to try this tutorial, and this year take those vinyl letters off.

We really need a new coffee table.  Our current coffee table is basically like a huge ottoman which I’ve had since college.  I love this style, and it would match my end tables that are modeled after this same style just different color.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I absolutely love this wreath for the front door.  Isn’t it adorable, and it looks pretty simple to make.  779edfe8bdf98beeb2b9d2c109fb892e

Want to make these as Pinterest Inspired Finds, click on the images, and it will link you to the original poster.

What are some of your favorite DIY pins?

I’d love to know.  They just might become some of my new favorites too!

Weekend in Review

We had a pretty low key weekend here, and got some much needed things done around the house.  Friday night the hubby and I watched some tv, and had fajitas for dinner.  They were so tasty.  Friday night while laying in bed after the hubby had already fallen asleep, I decided to browse Pinterest.  We all know that’s pretty dangerous, right?  As I was browsing, I was loving all the organized kitchen cabinets, and all of the tips and trick on how to get everything organized.

Saturday morning, I woke up and was doing my morning ritual when my husband started taking all of the cups out of the cabinets.  I asked him what he was doing in which he answered that he was organizing them.  It’s like he could read my mind, because that was on my agenda for the day.  We ended up pulling everything out of the cabinet and organized every drawer.   I even wiped down all of the cabinet fronts.  Sometimes you just need to do a little deep cleaning/organizing and Saturday was that day.  I ended up cleaning all of the main living area from the floors, to baseboards all the way to cleaning my light fixtures.

I wish I could say that I was done when cleaning, but then I decided to make some chex mix. (I’ll share that recipe later.)

And some chex mix I made….

My husband’s statement was – Did you make Chex Mix for all of Birmingham?

This was a NEW recipe, and I had no clue it actually made that much.

Then on Sunday, we decided that we should finally take down the Christmas lights that were still on our home outside.  Eeekk.. We aren’t one of those neighbors! The weather had been ridiculously cold here, and we just can’t afford to get sick.  The hubby was already feeling a little under the weather.

A couple other things that I did this weekend was the usual laundry, oh and installing a fantastic site which I will share with you later this week, and relaxing.

Hope you all had a great weekend as much as I did!
